PHILADELPHIA – Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have found that communists have no sense of humor. The study, which was carried out over a 3 year period on 1,000 known communists, used common jokes, satire and even had subjects make their own jokes. After all the data was collected, the researchers then did an analysis of it and had 100 non-communists read the jokes written by the communists subjects.
The study found that nearly 80% of all communists claimed that they could not understand the common jokes used by American culture. However, the study could not conclude whether the subjects were denying their association to a capitalistic culture by claiming they did not understand these common jokes. The study recommended further research in this regard to determine the source of the misunderstanding.
Furthermore, the study concluded that 95% of the communists tested in the study could not understand satire or recognize the difference between parody and truth. Of the 100 non-communists who read the jokes written by the communists, 83% them could not understand the jokes.
